Why September is really the Start of the New Year

Well I don’t know about you, but to me September has always been the start of the new year. Back to school, back to routine, back to order.

We had a great summer and I was sorry to see it end. Our family enjoys every minute of being outside, late bedtimes, morning swims and bonfires until the wee hours.

This summer included a pig roast with our neighbour, a week visit from the eldest son’s friend, baking lessons, two trips to Toronto (unfortunately not me), antiquing, fishing, a bake sale and time just chilling.

Now it’s time to embrace structure and routine. It’s probably not a bad thing. And this is why for so many of us, September is the start of the new year. Kids are back in school, lessons and courses have started up, we live by our calendars and the days have a controlled feel to them.

And by the amount of calls we get towards the end of August wanting to set up September appointments, I know that lots of you too think of September as a fresh beginning.

We’ve just finished up a remodel of a family home and have spent the last few days doing the final styling. Here’s a few pictures of the styling process. It starts off messy and then it all comes together.

Stay tuned for more pics of our finished projects. And if your summer was filled with outdoor fun and you missed reading some of our blogs, here’s a visual list with links.
